Hickory Grove Students Participate in IU6 Chess Tournament
Hickory Grove students showed up to play and had a strong presence at the Chess Tournament on Tuesday, November 12th at the IU6. They were eager to play and persisted to bring home the 2nd and 3rd place trophies in both divisions. In the third and fourth grade division, fourth graders Andrew Bazylak, Mia Cieleski, Atticus Reynolds, and Jordan Sarvey placed 2nd in the tournament while fourth graders Olivia Cieleski, Gabe Hollis, Emily Lindemuth, and Brett McGee brought home a 3rd place trophy.
In the fifth and sixth grade division, sixth graders Luke Burton, Sam Krug, Riley Phillips, and fifth grader Owen May were energized and worked hard to place 2nd. Likewise, sixth graders Sorren Morreli, Sergio, Sotillo, Ethan Taylor, Aaron Turner were focused throughout the tournament which resulted in a 3rd place trophy for the team.
Additionally, Brookville had several undefeated players including Mia Cieleski, Gabe Hollis, Jordan Sarvey, Owen May, Sergio Sotillo. Congratulations to all participants for a job well done! Their hard work and preparation paid off!
