Board Evaluates Superintendent

The Brookville Area School Board conducted its annual formal evaluation of Superintendent Dr. Erich May this month and met in Executive Session on June 19, 2023, to review and discuss the results. The Board uses an evaluation rubric provided by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. 

Dr. May was rated distinguished or proficient in all six of the Objective Performance Standards: Student Growth and Achievement, Organizational Leadership, District Operations and Financial Management, Communication and Community Relations, Human Resource Management, and Professionalism.

Dr. May received high marks for maintaining a regular presence in district buildings and at district events; regularly assessing district facilities and equipment and maintaining or updating as required; working with the board and district officials on financial and budgetary priorities; and demonstrating professional and personal integrity.

As part of their annual evaluation, the board also monitored the status of the goals set by the superintendent. Dr. May’s annual goals were as follows: overseeing numerous renovation projects – Northside window replacement, HVAC installation at the high school gym and auditorium, and stadium renovations; the addition of mental health specialists to serve district-wide; the organization of in-service trainings devoted to safety/security and teaching/learning; and continual analysis of staffing levels.
