Opportunities for Writers and Artists

Two exciting opportunities for young writers are now underway! First, the Brookville Area School District is working with The Watershed Journal Literary Group to produce our annual student literary magazine. Original student poetry, stories, artwork, and photography will be selected for this year’s publication which is due to be printed near the end of this school year. In the meantime, free copies of last year’s edition, Turning the Page: A Literary Magazine for the Brookville Area School District, are available at Watershed Books at 194 Main Street, Brookville.

Another opportunity for young writers comes to us from WPSU, which is hosting a Poetry Writing Contest for students in grades K-12. Students can submit their original poetry now through February 28, 2023. More information can be found at These submissions may also be considered for the BASD student literary magazine.

Self-expression is vital for all students. Encourage a young writer or artist in your life to pursue their inspiration through these creative opportunities.
